Well, after leaving about two hours later than we wanted yesterday, we made it to Billings last night (about 219 miles short of our target for the night). What a day! We had a struggle with our tarp on the truck and had to stop several times to try to fix it. I think we finally got it secured enough for the long drive. It is COLD on top of that. We had to deal with a lot of cold wind today and so while dealing with the tarp, our ears hurt and our fingers were achy when all was said and done...Montana...what happened to your Fall?
We stayed the night in Billings and experienced the awesomeness of not having to disconnect the camper from the truck for the night. That should make the packing up the camper easier for the trip. I think the downer for the night though is that we flooded the camper again....ugh! Yep! The TV in the outdoor kitchen fell over the sink and turned on the hot water and filled the gray tank that was closed...because it was one less thing to have to set up and take down for one night...so fortunately I noticed it before it was as extreme as the last time it happened, but I am glad we removed the carpet in the boys home, otherwise we would be doing that now, rather than driving today.
Today we hope to make it to Canada and hopefully to Calgary...we will see. I will say, I am so thankful for the prayers along the way and we feel them.
Here is a musing for you...as we went through Wyoming and Montana, it gives you a new perspective of what the early pioneers had to drive across in covered wagons...we made that comment a few times..."Could you imagine coming across this prairie and through the hills in a covered wagon?" I am thankful for our road system, gps mapping and our truck and camper.
