We have had a few call and message us concerned if we are okay and all of our needs are met. At the moment, yes we are good. Rivers of Life Church in Ninilchik, AK has given us a place to park our camper (for free) with electricity and water (also free). I went and filled our propane tank last week, and they made us turn in the receipt and get reimbursed. They have also offered to pay for groceries and have asked us to make a list and they would provide whatever is needed. We have already had a couple bring us two cases of bottled water. So we are all set there.
As for our current finances, we have enough in the checking account to cover our bills through the end of the month and maybe a bit further. Plus we have money set aside from the sell of the truck in savings that we have not touched yet. We spent a lot of money the last couple of weeks on clothes needed for this new environment. On the way up here, we realized we do not have a lot of long sleeved shirts for Eric or myself. So, we did some shopping when we went to Anchorage last week and this week. We also bought some winter boots for me as well as new tennis shoes for both Eric and I as ours were starting to fall apart. Best of all we found an nice brand of shoe on sale for $40 each, so we did not go the cheap route like we usually do for ourselves, because we need this stuff to last. God is providing more than we ourselves can imagine.
Our pantry, freezers and refrigerators are all full. Our tanks are full, we are not freezing. We wintered last year in this camper and it was a success. The winters here, from what we've been told and read on online of previous years, are no worse than what we experienced last year in South Dakota.
Our biggest concerns at the moment:
1. Figuring out a more permanent set up to properly skirt the camper and insulate the water line. Worse case, we will install the easy to use vinyl skirting for the camper right here where we are, stake it down, fill up the fresh water tank, and disconnect the water line and refill as needed. It will not be the end of the world and most of true need rides on God and his timing and placement.
2. Homeschooling Jonathan. I purchased the A Beka Workbooks through Christianbook.com. Today, as I try to teach him, I feel inadequately equipped. There is a Parent Kit available for $123.10 online, but I don't want to spend it at the moment as it would mean dipping into savings. I also want to purchase some elective subjects like the Social Studies from A Beka and the Science booklet from Ace Pace to add a little more to our day, which is another $41.59. This a need, but not must haves.
3. Computers for Eric and myself. Eric will be returning his Apple computer to Rapid City First, once he completes the presentations for Venture Kids in the next week or two. We have my computer, but it is older and starting to show its age, with very slow start up, sticky keys, and freeze ups from time to time. This is a "would be nice", but not a must have.
So as you see our needs are minimal, and God has provided so much for us and I have no doubts that he will continue to provide. So please, do not worry about us. Just pray for God's direction in finding that permanent spot.
